April is an accomplished executive with over twenty years’ experience in managed care consulting. She specializes in bringing order from chaos, creative problem solving, and implementing systems and automation.
She started her career in health care at SCAN Health Plan in Southern California, where she worked within the Compliance Department, helping the organization comply with state and federal regulations. At SCAN she developed and maintained the compliance tools used for the organization and was instrumental in the application filing to expand into a new state.
After SCAN, April moved to Gorman Health Group (GHG), a boutique Washington DC-based consulting firm, first as a consultant and then moving into software development and implementation. As a consultant, she assisted hundreds of plans and associated entities in the areas of compliance and operations by managing and performing audits, implementing new plans, providing interim staffing, spearheading operational improvements and re-engineering, and managing both internal and regulatory body corrective actions. With an affinity for translation complex regulatory guidance and business needs into technical requirements, April created numerous audit, reconciliation, and other tools used by GHG, multiple of which were later developed into fully SaaS products offered by the company. Eventually, she migrated into software development and product implementation full time, building an in-house development team and deploying GHG’s software offerings to hundreds of clients.
After 14 years, April left GHG shortly after its acquisition by Convey Health Solutions. After a few years of independent consulting, in 2020 she joined Betsy Seals and Debra Devereaux in founding Rebellis Group, acting as its Chief Operating Officer since inception. As the COO, April’s goal was to establish robust, sophisticated operations for the organization from the start, allowing for informed and rapid growth. In 2024, almost exactly four years after Rebellis’s founding, Rebellis was acquired by Alerion Advisors, which also owns Toney Healthcare Consulting and Advent Advisory Group, where April now serves as the COO of the combined enterprise.
Outside of work, April enjoys singing, reading, weightlifting, and practicing Krav Maga, in which she holds a black belt and instructor certifications.
